I wanted to comment about my most wonderful neighbor's post .......and just tell everyone that it REALLY DOES WORK! We don't have the miracle blanket, but you can use a light piece of fabric that is 42 x 42. You don't want fabric that is too heavy and thick, or they could overheat. We didn't know about it with BriAnn....but we swaddled both Emma and Ethan, and it seriously saved our sanity. lol. Emma needed to be swaddled for about a year, and Ethan only needed to be swaddle for 6 months. It is seriously the best thing ever, and I would recommend it for EVERY newborn!
I learned about it from a book my mom let me borrow called, "Happiest Baby On The Block" by Dr. Karp, and you can learn more about it here.
The DVD will teach you how to wrap them up really tight, and how to do what they call the "5 S's" to calm a baby down. I would also recommend the DVD, "Dunstan Baby Language"by Priscilla Dunstan. You can check out both DVD's at the library. Here are some pics of Emma and Ethan all swaddled up like little bugs. =O)
Ethan wasn't swaddled very good in this picture.....so it looks all funky. But he didn't mind not being swaddled too tightly. Emma was a different story.....lol

I had a pal whose baby was always crying. I swaddled him and did the 5 "s" to calm him and he calmed right down. They could even go to the store and he was still calm. Their older son called me the "baby whisperer" after that and would say, "call Shanna" when Sam would start to cry. It works for sure. Aubre's mom
